The Beaver Moon, Jesus, and Us
I love looking at the moon. Be sure and look up at tonight’s magnificent full moon — The Beaver Moon.
Interesting fun fact about the moon. It doesn’t have its own light. It simply reflects the light of the sun. Just like us…we have no light of our own, but if we are in Christ, His light can shine in us and the darkness cannot overcome it. That’s what abiding in Christ will do for us. It makes us “glow in the dark.”
John 1:4-5 — In Him [the Word, Jesus] was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Matthew 5:14-16 — You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Thank you, Jesus for bringing light into this awfully dark world. And thank you for graciously shining that light in my life. I don’t deserve it. In myself, I am like the moon; I have no light of my own. Help me to abide in You so that my life will reflect Your light just like the moon reflects the sun’s light. May others give glory to our Father because they see Your light shining in me. In Your name, I pray… Amen.
Why it’s called The Beaver Moon
Psalm 19:1 — The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims His handiwork.
